This set of cards is designed to facilitate understanding and correct answering of “why” questions by pairing pictures of cause and effect.

The “why” questions are divided into two types, which can be practiced together or separately:

▸ those that ask about purpose and whose answers start with “so that…”, (Cards 1-12)

▸ and those that ask about cause and whose answers start with “because…”, (Cards 13-30).

▸ 30 pairs of illustrated “why” questions and answers

▸ Color-coordinated back of cards (one color for questions, one for answers)

▸ Score sheet (both paper and Excel-based).

 

Directions:

Print pages 4-23 double-sided and laminate for durability.

To play the Memory Match game: Select pairs of “why” questions and answers to be targeted. Put the questions face down in rows on one side of the student and the answers face down in rows on the other side. Have the student pick a card from the “Question” side and then attempt to find its match by picking a card from the “Answer” side.
